MANILA, Philippines – Philippine bet Nicole Cordoves received jeers from the audience at the recently concluded Miss Grand International 2016.

Cordoves, who was part of the Top 5 candidates, was heckled by the audience during the pageant’s question and answer portion after she chose US presidential candidate Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton.

During the segment, candidates were asked to choose between Trump and Clinton for help in stopping war and violence.

Only Cordoves and Miss USA Michelle Leon chose Trump and both were booed by the audience while candidates from Puerto Rico, Thailand and Indonesia chose Clinton.

Despite being booed, Cordoves managed to snag the first runner-up title while Miss USA placed third. Miss Indonesia Ariska Putri Pertiw was crowned Miss Grand International 2016.

Philippines joined the pageant for the first time. The coronation was held Wednesday (Philippine time) at the Westgate International Theater, Las Vegas.
