Alma Moreno: Losing senatorial race will of God

MANILA, Philippines – Alma Moreno has no hard feelings with the result of the senatorial race.

The actress-politician ran as senator under the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), the party-list of presidential bet Vice President Jejomar “Jojo” Binay.

The Parañaque councilor said that she didn’t originally intended to run for senator. Her lost in the senatorial race where she placed at the 24th spot, she said, may be divine providence.

“Siguro nakita ni Lord na, ‘hanggang dito ka lang,’” she said in an interview with ABS-CBN News. “May dahilan si Lord, may reason ‘yan.”

“Mayroon kang mas magandang pupuntahan,” she added.

She also took the chance to ask her critics to stop making fun of her. This was after her interview in ANC’s “Headstart” hosted by Karen Davila on November 2015.

Some of the public has made fun of her after she appeared clueless on some national issues, based on her answers to the host’s questions.

This continued on after a parody account named after her was made on Twitter, which posts comical comments.

“Please, tigilan na ho ninyo ako,” she pleaded. “Kumbaga, ang taong sobra nang bumagsak, ‘wag nang apakan.”

Despite her lost and criticisms thrown at her, Moreno remains positive especially after her son Vandolph Quizon has won a councilor seat in Parañaque. — Joyce Jimenez
