MANILA, Philippines - Melissa Ruivivar Yeung mounts a solo exhibit titled Indigenius which is inspired by Philippine indigenous culture and the environment. Yeung’s stylized paintings embody traces of local colors, pattern, and textures, capturing the rich Filipino heritage of various regions.
A graduate of Development Studies at Ateneo de Manila University, Yeung dedicates her life working with marginalized indigenous communities throughout the country. Her travels, immersion and exposure to foundations and NGOs engaged in social development deepened her fascination in Philippine cultural heritage and anthropology.
Yeung’s exhibit showcases her journey as an eco-ethical social entrepreneur. She capitalizes on her AIM Masters in Entrepreneurship and expertise in project management to enable foundations to create sustainable livelihood models.
Yeung was also presented to the Imperial Highnesses Crown Prince Naruhito and Crown Princess Masaka of Japan as one of the Outstanding Young Persons of 2013.
