Mr. International 2013 4th placer Gil Wagas back in the country

MANILA, Philippines- It isn’t only Filipina beauty queens that are making waves internationally.

Last November, a Filipino named Gil Wagas won 4th runner-up in the 8th Mr. International, which was held in Jakarta.

He is next to Mexico’s bet Hans Briseño (3rd runner-up), Brazil’s Jhonatan Marko (2nd runner-up), Indonesia’s Albern Sultan (1st runner-up), and Venezuela’s Jose Anmer Paredes who was crowned as Mr. International 2013.

Gil who is from Cebu said in an interview with Ginger Conejero in “Mornings @ANC”, that he joined the competition after his manager convinced his mother to encourage him to join the pageant.

“My manger in Cebu asked my mom, and said I had a big chance in winning the pageant,” he said.

Now that he’s being recognized as a “beautyking,” Gil doesn’t have  any regrets in joining the competition. Gil said that because of the pageant, he has gained new friends in “Mr. Puerto Rico, Mr. Canada, [and] Mr. Singapore.”

Asked if he has any secrets to keep his body fit and healthy, Gil said his regimen consists of balanced diet, daily exercise and at least eight hours of sleep.

But his “secret weapon” during the competition, he says, is his faith in God.
