Party Pilipinas goes freestyle

MANILA, Philippines - GMA 7’s Party Pilipinas takes it to the streets, and goes freestyle tomorrow.

Set to perform on stage are the infamous open-mic rappers from the streets of Tondo, Manila, together with the show’s homegrown young rap royalties Elmo and Arkin Magalona. Survivor Philippines Celebrity Showdown host Richard Gutierrez joins a Step Up-inspired number with Mark Herras, Rochelle Pangilinan and the rest of Sayaw Pilipinas crew.

True to its freestyle theme, the show’s Big Four explores different boundaries. Jaya displays her rap and dance chops. Ogie Alcasid jams with Pinoy Rock’s favorite front men. Janno Gibbs taps Kapuso beauties for his special birthday production number and Regine Velasquez, with Kyla and Rachelle Ann Go engage in a vocal challenge.

Young viewers are in for a treat from Kapuso tween sensations Bea Binene, Barbie Forteza, Jake Vargas, and Joshua Dionisio; plus a sneak peek on the conclusion of the Elmo-Julie Ann love story as depicted in the short film Red Mask directed by indie director Avid Liongoren.

Another must-see is La Diva’s special production number, Viva La Diva. Grazilda lead star Glaiza de Castro will grace the show with cast members Geoff Eigenmann, Rio Locsin, Joel Torre and Cherie Gil.

The show cooked up segments featuring hits of Parokya ni Edgar and Rivermaya, plus a special treatment on Eraserheads hits.

Directed by Rico Gutierrez, Party Pilipinas airs after Kapuso Movie Festival.
