With a song in Susan's heart

Susan Hayward gave one of her finest performances in the 1952 movie With A Song In My Heart, the story of singer Jane Froman.

Miss Froman herself provided Susan’s singing voice, ‘26 never-to-be forgotten songs as only Jane Froman can sing them.’

Susan merited an Oscar Best Actress nomination for With A Song In My Heart, but it was in I Want To Live (1958) that she won the coveted trophy. I Want To Live is the filmbio of death convict Barbara Graham.

Miss Froman was a popular singer and concert artist in the 1940s who was badly injured in a plane crash while entertaining American troops in Europe. She made a successful comeback, fighting her way ‘up the ladder of musical triumph, song by song, show by show, thrill by thrill.’

Susan, as always, gave her best, making With A Song In My Heart ‘119 dramatic-romantic minutes of sheer cinematic delight!     — RKC
