Carlo holds a concert at Mandarin

MANILA, Philippines - Carlo Orosa showcases his distinctive falsetto in Backtrack, a one-night concert at the Captain’s Bar of the Mandarin Oriental, Makati City tomorrow, April 17, 9 p.m.

His repertoire will include songs from the ‘70s and ‘80s that are not so commonly heard anymore. “Hardly anyone sings old ditties like Oh Lori, Time Will Reveal, Heart to Heart and What A Fool Believes, for instance, because they’re really hard to sing,” says Carlo.

The singer, who is also the business manager of Christian Bautista, Karylle and Sam Concepcion, began his training as a singer and stage performer in La Salle Green Hills’ Kundirana in 1983.

“Singing is something that I’ll always go back to. It’s what I love doing,” Carlo adds.

Having waxed several albums under the record labels Octo Arts EMI and Viva in the early ‘90s, Carlo has also created a name for himself in the field of musical theater as a founding member of Trumpets. With Trumpets, he has essayed several lead and supporting roles in musicals like Joseph the Dreamer, First Name and Honk. He has also starred in the local productions of The Great White Way, Once On This Island, Grease and Rama at Sita.

Carlo also dabbles in sales and marketing for Trumpets and STAGES, one of the country’s leading event and talent management groups behind the recent staging of Footloose, High School Musical On Stage and West Side Story at the Meralco Theater.

After Carlo’s show at the Mandarin Oriental, he goes back to his performing duties at Bagaberde, Roxas Boulevard Wednesday nights. The Reasons Band, which regularly plays for Karylle, accompanies him.
