FIVB places PNVF under suspension

MANILA, Philippines — The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has suspended the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) under Tony Boy Liao for alleged violations of the former’s Code of Ethics.
As a result, the Philippine Olympic Committee is also bound to withdraw its recognition of the PNVF. The Philippine Sports Commission is also set to take action, including withdrawal of direct financial assistance to the local federation but with continued support to the athletes.
In between, the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) also reaffirmed its full support of its president Ramon Suzara following a communication it received from the PNVF. Suzara is the former PNVF president but has remained as head of the AVC and FIVB executive vice president.
Liao has yet to respond to the series of unfortunate events while the country is preparing to host the AVC Women’s Volleyball Cup June 6 to 14 in Candon, Ilocos Sur.
While the PNVF is under suspension, the FIVB has formed an ad hoc committee to look after the former.
