Flyboys 2008, Reapers 2013 reign supreme in “Last Dance”
CEBU, Philippines — The 2008 Flyboys and the 2013 Reapers reigned supreme in their respective divisions in the University of San Carlos-North Alumni Basketball Club (USC-NABC) “Last Dance”:Cong. Bingo “Bagtik” Matugas Cup over the weekend at the USC-North Campus gym.
Rabbi Lequigan dropped 25 points, while Mico Santos and John Reserva connived for 21 markers as Batch 2008 upended the 2006 Fury, 84-77, to emerge as champion in Division 3.
Dominant from the start, the Flyboys raced to a commanding 65-45 lead after three quarters in the wire-to-wire victory.
Giovanni Padillo fired 34 points but his offensive outburst went for naught for Batch 2006.
On the other hand, KiNG Osabel came up with scintillating 37-point show as the 2013 Reapers pummeled the 2011 Shark, 80-66, to claim the Division 4 crown.
Osabel got huge support from Dolan Adlawan with 20 points and Jude Bulan with 11 points for Batch 2013, which never looked back after cruising to a hot 25-12 start.
Batch 2011 trimmed the deficit down to a single-digit at halftime, 32-41, but Batch 2013 staged another wave of fierce 23-11 attack to take full control of the match with a huge 64-43 advantage going into the final frame.
