Tayud, Pulpogan punch final tickets in Alegado Cup
CEBU, Philippines — Tayud and Pulpogan sent teams to the championship round in their respective divisions in the 11th Mayor Teresa "Nene" P. Alegado Cup Fiesta Basketball League in Consolacion, Cebu.
Cisco Cuyos rifled 23 points and Miko Mata added 15 points as Tayud slammed Jugan, 103-79, to march into the midget category A final.
It was a close battle in the first half of play but Tayud launched a devastating offensive in the final two quarters where it blasted the hapless Jugan, 58-37, to come up with a 24-point blowout.
Lee Michael Dahil paced Jugan with 28 points while Xyriel Pilapil and Shan Sarno combined for 27 points in a losing effort.
On the other hand, Pulpogan drubbed Jugan, 95-87, to reach the senior category A final, which is a best-of-three series.
Russel Moneva showed the way for Pulpogan with 19 points. He was ably backed up by Harold Javier and Rexon Moneva with 18 markers apiece.
Venhur Villamor dropped 22 points, while Alamer Ibale and Japet Naingue scored 19 each for the ousted Jugan. — EBV
