Sarok Weavers slaughter Buffalos
CEBU, Philippines — The Consolacion Sarok Weavers whipped up a furious offensive storm in the second half to slaughter the San Fernando Buffalos, 88-72, in the semifinal round of the 2022 Pilipinas Super League (PSL) 21 Under-VisMin leg yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Institute in Barangay Sawang Calero.
Rovello Robles and team captain Paolo Dalumpines masterminded the amazing comeback that pushed the Sarok Weavers a win away from the Visayas finals.
Robles dropped 21 points on top of nine rebounds while Dalumpines collected 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists for the Sarok Weavers, who got off to an ice-cold start resulting to an early 15-point deficit, 12-27.
Still down by nine at halftime, 31-40, the Sarok Weavers suddenly breathed fire after the short break, launching a devastating 33-19 counter-attack to seize control of the match, 64-59, after three quarters.
Sustaining their momentum, the Sarok Weavers masterfully delivered the coup de grace on the Buffalos in the windup, 24-13, to come up with a 16-point romp.
Matthew Flores also made his presence felt with a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds laced with three assists for the Sarok Weavers who pounded the Buffalos in the final two quarters, 57-32.
Adrian Go and Franzel Basalo each scored 12 while Jhon Lyster Mamalia added 11 markers for the Buffalos, who face a must-win situation against the Sherilin-Unisol Mandaue City Plastic Men in their 4 p.m. duel today.
If San Fernando falters again, it’s going to be Mandaue vs Consolacion in the Visayas finals this weekend.
