IBP-Cebu to stage online chess tourney for a worthy cause

CEBU, Philippines — Cebuano lawyers will get a chance to test each other’s wits in the field of chess through an online tournament billed as “A Lawyer’s Gambit”.

Slated on May 8, the one-day virtual tilt is spearheaded by the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP)-Cebu Chapter under the leadership of Atty. Cheryl Pamela Condat in partnership with the Toledo City Trojans behind the efforts of their co-team manager and top female player Atty. Jeah Jean Gacang.

The Toledo Trojans placed fifth in the Southern Conference and made the playoffs of the 1st Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP)-All Filipino Conference that concluded last month.

“IBP Cebu Chapter invites all lawyers from different IBP Chapters to celebrate the power of sports and connecting people for a common goal:to express friendship, camaraderie and selflessness,” said the organizers in a statement.

Proceeds of the charity event will go to the IBP Cebu Community Pantry.

Those who are interested to join will have to pay an assessment fee of only P100.
