Salon de Rose Tatluhan chessfest unfurls this pm
CEBU, Philippines — Close to 200 pawnpushers from at least 50 teams across the province of Cebu, Bohol and Negros will battle it out for supremacy as the cash-rich Salon de Rose Christmas Tatluhan Chess Tournament gets underway today at the Barracks Chess Club in Robinsons Galleria Cebu.
As per tournament rules, each team shall be composed of three members with an average rating of 2030 based on the September 2019 National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) ratings.
A total of P100,000 in cash prize will be given away to the top finishers of the two-day tilt that is a yearly Christmas offering of noted Cebu chess patron Benjamin “Bojie” Lim and their family-owned Salon de Rose.
The champion will pocket P30,000, while the second to fifth will take home P20,000, P10,000, P7,000, and P5,000, respectively. The sixth to seventh place will get P3,000 and P2,000. The eight to 15th to receive P1,500 each while those who will make it to the top 20 will take P1,000.
The top board players, on the other hand, will earn a P1,000 bonus.
The organizers will be accepting on-site registration an hour before the 7-round Swiss system competition starts at 1 pm. Entry fee is pegged at P600 for the kiddies and ladies and P1,500 for regular players.
