Tugbongan now 2-0;PB Corp. bounces back in 10th Alegado Cup
CEBU, Philippines — Tugbongan nailed its second straight win in style, crushing Nangka, 90-75, in the SK Juniors Category B of the 10th Mayor Alegado Cup Inter-Barangay Fiesta Basketball League in Consolacion.
Matt Andrie Estrada sizzled with 27 points while John Paul Boyles added 10 markers for Tugbongan, which was in full command of the match since racing to a huge 40-23 lead at halftime.
Still in the same group, Von Xyle Tundag scattered 22 points and Edimz Pongase added 12 markers as Garing clobbered Lanipga, 73-45.
Garing also emerged victorious against Lanipga, 70-58, in midgets Category B, with Gabriel Jones Alin and Von Charls Alin conniving for 31 points.
In midgets category A, Chalo Abucay, Rivic Pomento and Jayrald Baring combined for 40 points to power Tayud past Cansaga, 74-56, while Prince Soquiño, Rovello Robles and Lorenz Mission tallied 50 points across their games as Pulpogan edged Jugan via close 72-68 decision.
It was the other way around in the Inter-Barangay Seniors Category A as Jugan outlasted Pulpogan, 84-66, behind the efforts of Erwin Brigole, Japhet Naingue, Raymond Arena and Alamer Ibale who conspired for 54 points.
In the seniors Category B, Reynaldo Pardillo sizzled with 27 points and Ichael Villamor banged in 21 markers to help Garing pull off an 85-84 cliffhanger over Lanipga, 85-84.
In SK Juniors A, Pulpogan prevailed over Danglag, 63-46. John Paolo Dalumpines showed the way for Pulpogan with 20 points followed by Raymundo Osabel with 16 markers.
On the other hand, PB Corp. readily bounced back from its previous loss with a thrilling 87-83 victory over Team Marino in the open category.
Warren Canete (17), Rumar Ponce (16), Lemuel Malagar (15), and Franco Te (14) all cracked double figures for PB Corp., which now holds an even 1-1 record.
Meanwhile, the Thursday Club mauled LGU Consolacion, 72-44, in their exhibition match. Gerome Taborada paced the Thursday Club with 13 points while JV Dumadag and Topher Jayme tossed in 10 markers each. (FREEMAN)
