Habagat paddlers rule Toledo dragonboat
CEBU, Philippines — Habagat Dragon Boat Racing Team dominated the inaugural ‘Pahugyaw sa Ilihan Bridge Dragon Boat Racing 2019’ held at Hinulawan River in Barangay Ilihan, Toledo City, yesterday.
Team Habagat of Naga City snagged two titles as they ruled in the open and mixed divisions.
The team clocked in one minute and 5.23 seconds to top the open category. Poseidon Dragonboat Team (1:06) and Team Aroma (1:09) settled for second and third place, respectively.
In the mixed category, Habagat posted the fastest time of 1:06. Team Poseidon A came in second with a time of 1:07, while Team Poseidon B wound up third in 1:08, clocking.
Meanwhile, Felix Arceli with his outrigger canoe bagged the top prize in the baranggay race category. Arceli had a time of 1:12, beating Enriquito Miaga who finished in second place with 1:14 clocking and Hermes Apostro with 1:19 for the third place.
In the Toledo resident category, Jardin Alagad (1:09) clinched the title followed by Anapog (1:11).
The race, which is line with Toledo City’s Independence Day Celebration, is the first-ever flat river-water race in Cebu. (FREEMAN)
