DBTC teams roll to regional finals of Allianz bootfest

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Don Bosco Technical College claimed three slots to the regional finals of the 2nd Allianz National Youth Futsal Invitational in Bacolod City later this month.

This after DBTC-A bagged the boys 16 title while posting a 1-2 finish in the boys 14 age group during the Cebu eliminations the other night at the DBTC field in Barangay Punta Princesa, Cebu City.

The top two finishers in each division in the local qualifying will move up to the regional finals.

It was one sweet victory for DBTC-A in the boys 16 as they barely made it to the finals.

The Guardian Strikers booked the first finals ticket after topping the elimination round with nine points, while DBTC-A was tied with Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu with four points.

DBTC-A, however, got the other finals berth after earning the higher goal difference at four against -2 of SHS-Ateneo.

Playing with a different set of players in the final, DBTC-A went on to defend its throne with a 3-1 beating of the Guardian Strikers.

On the other hand, DBTC-A and DBTC-B earned an outright slots to the regional championships after emerging as elimination round topnotchers in the boys 14 with 15 and 10 points, respectively.

The rest who made it to the regionals are the Guardian Strikers and Cebu United in the girls 14 and the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) and Labangon in the girls 16.
