USPF, USJ-R dominate Talisay beach volley
CEBU, Philippines — The University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) and the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) ruled their respective classes in the 2019 Talisay Landing Beach Volleyball Tournament last Tuesday at the Aznar Beach Resort in Barangay Poblacion, Talisay City.
USPF’s duo of Dan Adrian Garnica and Jason Kent Imperial bested Southwestern University-Phinma’s Niño Mhil Pacinio, Rafol Sico and Roy Ulan in straight sets, 21-15, 21-11 to clinch the men’s title.
In the battle for third place, Clifford John Nabre, Carl Edpan and Airon Paul Cabase of Cebu Institute of Technology-University outlasted Jonel Tabale, Jeri Pingoy and Jay Mart Avancena of the University of San Carlos, 25-21.
USJ-R, on the other hand, retained its women’s crown behind the efforts of Krissia Caasi, Lyn Rose Densing and Jamaica Adriano, who outgunned USPF’s Crisley Ann Sucalit, Iris Tito and Charisse Sungahid, 21-16, 21-18.
USC’s Jaslyn Geconcillo, Hovelita dela Silva and Jelyn Aca-ac lifted the third place trophy after edging SWU-Phinma’s Chyne Mae Saberon, Janyl Fonseca and Suzette Espinosa via a 26-25, 27-26 thriller.
