Talisay, Carcar seek finals slots in Gullas Legacy Cup

CEBU, Philippines — The Talisay City Aquastars and Carcar City shoot for finals berths as they take on separate foes in the crossover semifinals of the Samsam Gullas Cup 3.0 Cebu 1st District Legacy Cup Inter-Cities and Municipalities Basketball Tournament tonight at the Talisay City Sports Complex.

In the opening match at 6 pm, the second-ranked Carcar will go up against the No.3 qualifier Minglanilla Archangels while the top seeded Aqustarts will collide with the fourth-ranked San Fernando Spartans in the main match at 8 pm.

Host Talisay enjoys a twice-to-beat advantage for emerging as elimination round topnotcher with a clean 5-0 slate. Carcar ended up second with a 4-1 card followed by Minglanilla (3-2) and San Fernando (2-3).

The winners will then clash for the championship in a best-of-three series starting on February 5. Game 2 is set for February 9 while Game 3, if necessary, is scheduled on February 10.

Aside from trophies, the champion will also pocket P80,000, while the second to fourth placers will take home P60,000, P40,000,  and P20,000, respectively. – EBV
