Shakey's g-league national finals Pajo belles seek to regain crown

- Marigold Lebumfacil -

CEBU, Philippines - Visayas titleholder Pajo National High School (PNHS) Lady Vipers are raring to strut their wares in the Shakey’s Girls Volleyball League “Tournament of Champions” from April 3 to 7 at the University of St. La Salle (USLS) gymnasium in Bacolod City.

The Fr. Rey T. Manayon-mentored PNHS belles are currently in the thick of torrid training for the nationals as they aim to regain the coveted crown this season.

“We have a daily practice against varsity players so that the girls will get used to dealing with hard attacks. So far, their performance is fine. They only need slight adjustments in terms of stamina and reception,” said Manayon.

Manayon expects tough opposition against Hope Christian School and host USLS-Bacolod.

“I always tell my players to aim high and bring their performance to the next level for us to succeed. More importantly, they should show teamwork because they are playing with some reinforcements from other schools,” Manayon said.

PNHS will primarily bank on first stringers in Gretchel Soltones, Marjorie Coloscos, Charlita Auza, Cristy Sucalit, Apple Roiles and Danika Molinas.

They will be reinforced by Nina Fernandez and Shyrra Cabriana from the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) and Julaiza Mae Larada of the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R).

PNHS won the national championship for two consecutive years in 2008 and 2009 but lost it last year to USPF. (FREEMAN)
