Pepo Rubi makes triumphant return

- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -

CEBU, Philippines - Pepo Rubi made a big comeback in the local scene by claiming a double victory in the 2011 MS Motosuit Motocross Series third leg dubbed as Barangay Captain Fredo Diamante Cup in Barangay 8, Tuburan.

Rubi, whose been taking the sideline for sometime as host to a motocross show on television, did not disappoint local followers of motocross by daring and winning the expert and intermediate classes under a muddy racetrack.

The veteran Rubi gave Kimboy Pineda some neat lessons by defeating the latter in the experts class as Jubenile Abellar wound up third in this Castrol-supported event.

Rubi also showed fellow Quickflight Racing rider, Clark Wagas, his might in the intermediate division while Cyril Tariman wound up third.

Pineda, however, made sure, he doesn’t go home empty-handed by winning the pro class over Abellar and Rex Barbaso.

Back-to-back MS Motosuit 'Rider of the Year' awardee Jon-Jon Adlawan appeared last Sunday, but decided not to push himself out to race as he don’t want to jeopardize himself and his bike under a muddy racetrack as he is preparing for an international competition.

Jay Sanico grabbed part of the limelight as he upset Donkey Sanchez in the local enduro.

Sanchez though topped the open enduro category as Alex Abalo and Sanico settled second and third respectively.

Gutsy Bayawa, as his name suggests, really showed some guts as he won the beginners open production leaving behind Enting Realiza and Rolly dela Calzada.

Cyril Tariman prevented Bayawa from winning a double victory by taking away the novice open production. – THE FREEMAN
