UABC Season 4 kicks off tomorrow

CEBU, Philippines - It’s green and go for the United Architects’ Basketball Club (UABC) Season IV billed as “The Corporate Cup” this Sunday at the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) gym.

“This time we’re having a new set-up that is why we name this season as Corporate Cup. We’re getting bigger and better each year. We’re expecting a longer season because this tournament will run for almost five months,” said UABC president Josephril “Iverson” Partosa in a press conference yesterday at the Board Room A situated at the 19th floor of Club Ultima.

Aside from the traditional parade of competing teams, the selection of best muse is among the highlights of the simple opening ceremony that will promptly start at 1 pm.

A total of six teams will slug it out on the hardcourt- Savers Home Depot-Cebu/Sugbu Chapter, Durabend-Datu Lapulapu Chapter, Boysen-Rajah Humabon Chapter, Gyproc-Gold, UABC-Orange and UABC-Violet.

They will play in a double round robin format in the elimination round. The top two will earn twice-to-beat advantage against the lower-ranked squads in the semifinals. The winners will then clash for the championship in a best-of-three series.

A total of 24 rookies spread into the six entries will strut their wares in the league supported mainly by Boysen Paints, Durabend Pipe, Savers Home Depot and Gyproc Gypsum Board.

The rest of the event sponsors are Cabinet Members, Inc., Central Lumber Corp., Emerald, Globe Home, Summit Granite Center, Mindanao Stone Manufacturing and Trading Corp., Expo Tile Bath, Davies Paints, Shinto Roofing, Holcim, Mitsubishi Elevators, Fuente Triangle Realty Devt., and As-Es Wear.

Under the leadership of Partosa, the rest of UABC officers are Rolan Paolo Alberto as VP for tournament, Erickson Perez as VP for membership, Gerome Patrick Camello as secretary, Oliver Tan as treasurer, Duane Anino as auditor and Elmer Laguna as PRO.
