CNHS Black Shama books semis ticket in M. Lhuillier U-21 caging

-

CEBU - The Consolacion National High School (CNHS) Black Shama completed a two-game sweep of MLSDF selection via a 57-56 squeaker to march into the semifinal round of the 6th M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala Under-21 Developmental Basketball League at the Consolacion Sports Complex.

The CNHS Black Shama will challenge next eary qualifier Team RemEMBER of Consolacion Vice Mayor Ember V. Alinsug and team manager Paul Alelu Q. Flores, with the winner advancing into the championship of the three-month tilt organized by M. Lhuillier Sports Development Foundation executive director and multi-titled coach Eddie B. Ybañez.

It was a heart-breaking setback for Bracket B topnotcher MLSDF cagers as they got off to a sizzling 12-4 start.

Black Shama, however, fought back with savvy in the next two quarters to wrest the driver’s seat, 44-43, entering the final quarter.

The MLSDF selection was ahead for the last time at 56-55 with 32 seconds left. It could have increased its lead but Otida missed a crucial fastbreak play.

In the ensuing sequence, Lemuel Malagar converted a difficult layup to push CNHS back on top, 57-56, with six seconds left to play. That turned out to be the game-clincher for Black Shama as MLSDF couldn’t set up one good offense as the gameclock expired.

Malagar finished with nine points, but it was J. Rio who topscored for Black Shama with a game-high 25 points.

The scores

CNHS Black Shama (57) - Rio 25, Najarro 11, Malagar 9, Linao 5, Cadampog 4, Tibalan 3
