CEBU - Defending champion University of the Visayas (UV) Baby Lancers and the University of Cebu (UC) Junior Webmasters will settle their unfinished business today as they clash in the deciding Game 5 that will determine the juniors division champion of the 8th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) basketball season at the Cebu Coliseum.

Now locked up at two games apiece, the Baby Lancers could duplicate the feat achieved by their older brothers, who have won their eight straight CESAFI crown last Friday in a record attendance of 12,000-plus spectators.
It will be another double championship for UV if the Baby Lancers succeed in clinching the title in come-behind-fashion. They trailed in the best-of-five series, 1-2, but bounced back in Game 4, 66-72, to forge a sudden-death match.
The Baby Lancers will take one last stand in defending their throne, which will surely be a fitting birthday present to UV president and 1st District Rep. Eduardo “Eddiegul” R. Gullas, who will turn a year older on October 13.
Three vital components of UV’s title retention campaign are Arvie Cabanero, John Michael Auditor and Glennson Ybanez. Of course, they need the support of Christian Fajardo and Aldwin Felisario among others for them to reach their goal.
The Junior Webmasters, on the other hand, will rely heavily on reigning MVP John Marty Pearce along with Roger Pogoy, Christian Taboada, Gerald Ampoon, Patrick Tindoy, Alfred Codilla, Zandro Palileo and Cherwill Solon.
No matter who will emerge victorious tonight, another successful CESAFI basketball season will drop off its curtains and looks forward to a bigger hit in 2009. (THE FREEMAN)
