Makati's Kevin Cu outshines Cebuanos in BTA bowlfest

CEBU - Kevin Cu broke the hearts of the Cebuanos when he topped the masters event of this year’s BTA National Open Bowling Tournament at Gaisano Bowlingplex in Brgy. Banilad, this city.

Cu of the Tenpin Bowling Association of Makati defeated Clifford Tan, one of the top bets of event host BTA/Albert Surplus, to clinch the title that goes along with the P40,000 cash prize.

Cu nailed 244 pins, while Tan got only 220.

Rodel Tungala of Imus Tenpin Bowling Association (ITBA) got the third place honors, while Cebuanos Docdoc Gothong and BTA/Prima’s Jomar Jumapao finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

Another visiting bowler, Lara Posadas of the Parañaque Bowling Association/Bowlmart collared the singles’ title.

Posadas toppled 878 pinfalls, just two points ahead of another Cebu entry Jake Yap.

The Cebuanos, however, have something to celebrate for as Prima Team’s 6, 2 and 5 swept the top three spots in the team competition of the event sponsored by Cebu Vice Governor Greg Sanchez.

The combination of Adrian Saguinsin, Ojie Guerrero and Micmic Miranda posted a total of 2,557 pinfalls to wrest the team title. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
