Gasataya takes lead in BTA Bowling Classic

John Gasataya of Cebu Tenpin Bowling Association/PRIMA overtakes Clarence Tiu to take the lead at the end of squad I's action in the Bowlingplex Tenpin Association Classic 2006 at the Gaisano Bowlingplex in Banilad the other night.

Gasataya, who was trailing Tiu in the first lap, completed the 16-game action with 3,367 pinfalls.

BTA's Edmund San Jose, who was seventh after eight games, zoomed to second place after toppling 3,339 pins.

Teammate Clarence Tiu dropped to third with 3,338 pinfalls.

Ed Aniñon occupied the fourth spot after knocking out 3,324 pins while CETBA's Mario So (3,304), James Zuluaga (3,285) and Nestor Ponteres (3,276) were lodged at fifth, sixth and seventh places, respectively.

The eight to 15th placers in squad I out of 46 entries are BTA's Germaine Uang (3,267), Edwin Apawan (3,256), Edison Ho (3,236), Clark Tiu (3,225), Nathaniel Go (3,183), Luther Tapaya (3,183), Joey Barbas (3,175) and Nikki Tan with 3,168 pinfalls.

BTA-Prima's Germaine Uang still remained the top female bowler under squad I. Uang, who was ninth in the first day of action, stepped a notch higher.

After squad I, its time for squad II to showcase their wares wherein some members of the National squad and a host of out-of-towners will be seeing action.

The top 28 in the elimination rounds in this Skygo Marketing Corporation-backed event will advance to the Masters Event. - Caecent O. No-ot
