CEBU, Philippines —  CCTO, though, will deploy more traffic personnel to better manage the traffic flow at the affected areas.

“Rest assured, additional traffic enforcers on the field will be deployed thereat, to manage the traffic flow, and concentration of our mobile personnel will be there as well,” Gealon said.

To help mitigate the impact of the road closure, CCTO has mapped out diversion routes for north-bound public utility and jeepneys (PUJs) and private vehicles.

When going to their destinations, Apas-Lahug-Busay PUJs can still take Osmeña Blvd. right up to Coco Mall, where they must turn right to M. P. Yap St. then turn left to Juana Osmeña St. then to N. Escario St.

Private vehicles, on the other hand, should proceed one block from MP Yap St. to J. Avila Street, where they must turn right, and then turn left to F. Ramos Extension then right to N. Escario St.

For those bound to OPRRA, they should also turn right to MP Yap St., left to Juana Osmeña St., cross N. Escario St., and then turn left to its Capitol-bound lanes, then right to Villalon Drive.

For PUJs and private vehicles bound to Guadalupe and Banawa, they should turn left to J. Avila St., right to M. Cui St., right to N. Escario St., then left turn to G. Garcia St. and  to M. Velez St.

Gealon said the existing diversion routes for south-bound PUJs to Fuente Osmena, on the other hand, will be retained.

Gealon suggested that those going to areas that will be affected by the road closure should wake up and travel earlier than what they are used to.

“Along these areas, vehicular traffic flow is expectedly slow. I suggest that waking up early to travel earlier than usual is the best way to beat the peak hour traffic in the morning,” the councilor said. (CEBU NEWS)
