Neophyte city dad eyes financial literacy program for entrepreneurs

CEBU, Philippines —  Neophyte Cebu City Councilor Jose Abellanosa has disclosed that financial literacy program among his top priorities as he joins the 16th Sangguniang Panlungsod.

“Kay naa tay kugihan monegosyo naay ikapundo, pero dili kamao modala sa panalapi kung unsaon, sagad dili ka roll sa ilang income,” said Abellanosa, in a report posted by the city’s Public Information Office (PIO).

Financial literacy is the ability to understand and effectively use various financial skills, including personal financial management, budgeting, and investing.

“Naa man ‘tay bugasan, mo-provide ‘ta’g budget for bugas, nya mao nay ipamaligya diha sa mga barangay...Actually, kana lang gyud sa, komprahon pilay ibaligya sa produkto para makabawi ka, pangpuhonan na pud sunod adlaw nga business day. Diha masangit kasagaran kay dili kamao mokwenta kung ang kompra nga presyo unsay price ug uban pa. Ato silang tudloan ana. Basic lang gyud para dili maalkanse sila sa ilang negosyo,” Abellanosa explained.

He said that he will use his three years in office in implementing his planned programs specifically on livelihood and entrepreneurship, adding that he will give his full support in whatever designation he is given.

“Ato sad gyud ipaabot is kaning mga livelihood opportunities puhon. Ako nang i-propose nga resolution. Motabang gyud ta sa mga homeless ug mga street children,” he said.

“Mao nang dapita nga mo-excel ta, kay mao man gyud na atong gi-provide nga services sa una pa, especially sa akong amahan nga si Congressman Bebot Abellanosa sulod sa tulo ka termino. Mao man na iyang gihimo nga gipadangat nga services sa katawhan–livelihood, entrepreneurship, ug kabahin sa panglawas,” he added.

Abellanosa, who is a member of the City Council’s minority bloc, assured that he will work together with other members of the council for the betterment of the city.

“I am working for Cebu City, not working for myself but for the City of Cebu, not just south district but as a whole, apil na ang north (district). Kay mao man na ang atong gimbuhaton, kay gisaligan man ta sa mga tawo sa Cebu City,” he said.

On May 9, 2022 elections, Abellanosa got the second highest number of votes in the south district at 148, 667 votes. — GMR (FREEMAN)
