CCLEX operator clarifies bridge tour package

CEBU, Philippines —  The Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway Corporation (CCLEC) has clarified that it has not issued accreditation to the reported travel packages that are now coming out on social media, where the third bridge is included as one of the destinations of tourists to have their photos taken.

During MyTV’s Openline Forum yesterday, CCLEC President and General Manager Allan Alfon said that they do not allow individuals to go to the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) for pictorial purposes.

This, to ensure the safety of everyone at the CCLEX.

Alfon said that as of now, there are personnel patrolling 24/7 at the bridge to caution the people who do not follow the rules.

However, the CCLEC also admits that the scenario at CCLEX could be a part of tourism development, so they are now planning to establish a suitable area for those who want to take their pictures at the bridge.

Alfon said it will be called “bisita center” and will be possibly built in the latter part of this year.

In that area, the beautiful angle of the bridge will be seen as well as other parts of Cebu City and Municipality of Cordova.

While the “bisita center” has not yet been built, Alfon is asking the public to strictly abide by the rules at the bridge to avoid any untoward incident from happening.

CCLEC stressed that the 8.9-kilometer modern toll expressway is a traffic discipline zone and standard traffic and safety regulations are strictly implemented.

Motorcycle owners are asked to follow the speed limit on the expressway, which is set at 40 kph on the main bridge and curves and 60 kph on the causeway.

They are also asked to only use the designated motorcycle lane, which is located on the right and is marked with blue.

Overtaking is also not allowed.

To protect them from untoward incidents, motorcycle owners are required to wear proper riding gear such as standard protective helmet (full face, modular, off-road, half, open-face, dual sport) provided for under Republic Act 10054 or the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009 and LTO Administrative Order No. AHS-2008-015 that governs the use and operation of motorcycles on highways.
