CEBU, Philippines —  At least 15 families would benefit the housing project initiated by the Cebu City Mobile Force Company (CCMFC) of the Cebu City Police Office dubbed as “Bahay Mo, Puso Ko” which aims to strengthen its relationship towards the community.

According to its chief, Police Major Chuck Barandog, since the CMFC is tasked to man the mountain areas, they also did a validation and survey for the residents who needed a decent house to live in.

Barandog said this is in line with the program of Philippine National Police (PNP), Barangayanihan Help and Food Bank, which they named as Bahay Mo, Puso Ko in partnership with the stakeholders, the advisory council and other advocacy groups.

“Ibig sabihin, balay sa tawo, kasing-kasing sa police, gi validate ni sya nato..within the 24 barangays in the city naa nami mga nakalinya nga mga recipient for this program..mga less fortunate sa members sa isa ka barangay,” said Barandog.

The project includes funding and building the house from scratch.

The first recipient of the housing project is a certain Ronaldo Saballe of Barangay Pamotan, Cebu City.

“Kini siya nagpuyo ra gyud sa guba kaayo nga balay, papag and to note na iyang anak walo kabuok, nagsunod from months up to 8 years old, so lisud gyud,” said Barandog.

Barandog said that they are expecting a monthly groundbreaking of the project as well as a monthly turnover of one unit to a family.

The CMFC had already identified 15 recipients that correspond to one family per mountain barangay with the validation and endorsement of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the barangay.

The lot where the house will be built is also donated, according to Barandog.

The construction has a timeframe of 26 days with a target of monthly turnover.

“Naa na ni mga basic na mga ipangbutang sa sulod sa balay. This is a progressive project so pag makita ni sa community or sa ubang stakeholders, it might be somebody would donate to the family nga makita nila,” said Barandog.

Barandog said the project will benefit remote areas that have been left out by government services.

“So ipakita nato nga the government is still there, the government is trying moving heaven and earth to help the community. Although dili nato matagaan tanan, ipakita nato nga ni-exert pud efforts ang government,” said Barandog. — GMR (FREEMAN)
