350 Liloan medical frontliners get Sinovac

CEBU, Philippines —  The municipality of Liloan launched Friday its COVID-19 Vaccination Center with 350 of the town’s medical workers and healthcare frontliners getting the Sinovac vaccine.

“We aim to complete the vaccination of our over 1,300 government frontliners by Wednesday next week, together with private healthcare frontliners as well,” said Mayor Christina Frasco.

In keeping with existing protocols, the town’s vaccination center provides registration, screening and counseling, vaccination as well as aftercare with a recovery area with standby ambulance and health personnel as persons inoculated are put under observation.

Frasco said the local government units and the Municipal Health Office are working closely with the Department of Health and the Provincial Health Office for the expeditious release of more vaccines so they can begin to inoculate their senior citizens and other sectors following the priority list of the DOH.

However, she said the DOH has not released any information as to the date of vaccination rollout for the general population, at least for the time being.

Frasco, meanwhile, said the LGU has been exploring its options to ensure a faster rollout of vaccination. She said that details on this will be announced once finalized.

“After having labored under the cloud of the COVID-19 pandemic for over a year, finally today, a glimmer of light shines upon the long road to recovery which we shall tread and conquer together,” Frasco said. — JMD (FREEMAN)
