In crime-prone areas:CCPO to augment police visibility

Iris Hazel Mascardo - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) is set to augment its police visibility in snatching and robbery prone areas.

Police Colonel Engelbert Soriano directed his station commanders to increase presence of policemen amid the series of snatching and robberies in some areas of the city.

Soriano added that during his dialogue with the station commanders, he asked them to identify the crime clock of the areas under their jurisdictions to make sure that there will be enough police visibility to avert these crimes.

"It's high time to rationalize our deployment," Soriano said, and added that it is now also timely to amend their deployment time basing upon the assessment of their crime clock.

Aside from this, Soriano is also eyeing to establish a dynamic deployment plan.

"Halimbawa, ito yung fix visibility noong police, three years ago ito na yung fix visibility nila," he added.

Soriano also said that it is important to augment police visibility even outside the fix visibility, considering that some criminals have also found other strategic locations.

"Ang sinasabi ko ngayon sa kanila is, it's time to make a diagnosis of why these crimes take place in your respective area of responsibility," Soriano said recalling his final instructions to his men.

With these new strategies to address the said crimes, Soriano said that he will be updating the improvement over its effectiveness.  GAN (FREEMAN)
