CEBU, Philippines — Is Brigadier General Debold Sinas leaving his post as Police Regional Office-7 director soon?

The top police official in Central Visayas hinted at such possibility amid talks of a looming massive revamp at the PNP before the end of the year.

Sinas, speaking to reporters during his visit to the police training camp in Consolacion town Tuesday, said he was hopeful on witnessing the trainees’ recognition day this November.

“In November, right pud nga inig next balik nako, is their recognition day. So I talked to Mario (Regional Training Director or RTC-7), hopefully naa pa ko diri,” Sinas said.

The statement triggered the reporters to ask him if he is set to end his service as PRO-7 chief.

“For more than a year, nag-cycle nata, nag-cycle nako. The people know already my style. (They) know already how to do it. So di na kaayo mi maglisod,” Sinas answered, without categorically stating if he’s leaving.

Sinas said that as his men in the region know his protocols already, he is happy that he doesn’t need to brief everyone anymore everytime there is an event that would need his presence.

“I’m very happy nga unsa man. One way or the others, we were able to make a difference to our policemen diri sa PRO-7…ug sa atong mga stakeholders and constituents diri sa Central Visayas,” Sinas said.

According to Sinas, as the PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde is set to retire on November 8, along with the PNP Deputy Chief for Administration, and it will trigger a massive revamp to fill up the vacancies.

“However, murag i-hold sa na, because they are waiting for whoever the next Chief PNP,” he said.

“Murag tan-aw namo sa taas (national headquarters) kung mag-resign na ang DCA murag ang mag-move lang kay sila lang didto, wala sa sa ubang unit,” he added.

When asked where he would want to be assigned after revamp, Sinas refused to comment. He also declined to comment on the hypothetical situation where he would be appointed as the next Chief PNP.  JMD (FREEMAN)
