Liloan breaks ground for new police station

Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Liloan, Cebu Mayor Christina Garcia Frasco and some local Philippine National Police (PNP) officials joined in the groundbreaking activity the other day for the P8-million three-storey “type A” police station that will soon rise in the town next year.

The station will be built in Barangay Jubay and would be adjacent to the Panphil B. Frasco Public Market.

The police station will be funded by the PNP and will occupy 600 square meters of the land that the municipal government owns.

Frasco said that a stable peace and order situation translates to a stable economy and safer communities, which is why she has supported the police force.

The mayor said that with the very low crime rate, Liloan has become a preferred place to live, and investor confidence is at an all-time high.

Liloan has consistently been awarded the top municipality in the Province of Cebu in the Sugbo Kontra Droga Anti-Illegal Drugs Program of the Cebu Provincial Government, number 1 municipality in peace and order programs, and number 1 Police Station in President Rodrigo Duterte’s “Project Double Barrel.”

Aside from the mayor, Cebu Fifth District Representative Duke Frasco, PRO-7 Deputy Regional Director for Administration Police Colonel Ildebrandi Usana, Acting Cebu Provincial Director Police Colonel Roderick Mariano, acting Liloan Chief of Police Major Danilo Colipano, and other PNP and municipal officials joined the affair.

In his speech, Usana said the PNP was grateful for the generous support of Mayor Frasco and the municipal government to the local police.

“This partnership between the local government and the PNP resulting in the groundbreaking of this police station is a model that should be emulated,” Usana said.

In his message, Representative Frasco said that this additional police station is timely considering that Liloan is one of the fastest growing populations in Cebu and it compliments their drive towards cityhood.

The legislator also noted that Liloan can further expect an influx of people with the new Port of Liloan that would be operational in the first quarter of 2020 and his planned sports and educational complex to be built soon. — GAN (FREEMAN)
