PRO-7 reveals major revamp

Mae Clydyl L. Avila - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 has announced a major revamp of police officials in Metro Cebu by July 1, following the changes of leadership in each local government unit.

PRO-7 Director Debold Sinas said that Police Colonel Gemma Vinluan from the Women’s and Children’s Protection Center of the Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame will replace Police Colonel Royina Garma as director of Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).

Vinluan is a classmate of Garma from the Philippine National Police Academy Kapanalig Class of 1997.

Garma is expected to assume as the general manager of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) in Mandaluyong City.

Sinas said that even if mayor-elect Edgardo Labella wanted Garma to stay as the city’s police director, her appointment to the PCSO is beyond the PNP’s control.

He said that as a PNP officer, Garma was a perfect 10 in terms of her duty and delivered more than what was expected of her.

Based on the latest records from Cebu City Police Office from July 2018 to June 24 this year, CCPO was able to conduct 2864 police operations against illegal drugs.

In less than a year, operatives from CCPO under Garma netted a total of P678,590,468 worth of suspected shabu.

“She is a ten, she was able to deliver more than what was expected. Although ganahan pud mi mopabilin siya, we cannot override the opportunity. And it’s not every day nga naa pulis mahimong general manager,” Sinas said.

The police offices in the cities of Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu will also experience a change in leadership, as the newly-elected local chief executives recommended their bets.

Police Colonel Julian Entoma, the Mandaue City Police Chief, will be replaced by Police Colonel Jonathan Abella of the PRO-7’s Human Resources Development Division.

LCPO Chief Limuel Obon will be replaced by Police Colonel Clarito Baja from the PRO-7 Learning and Doctrine Development Division. —/GAN (FREEMAN)
