CEBU, Philippines — A 16-year-old boy is facing charges before the court for allegedly sexually abusing a 14-year old girl, whom he met last Independence Day.

Prosecutor Leah Cruz held the minor, a resident of Barangay Cogon-Pardo, Cebu City, for trial after finding probable cause for child abuse, after he opted not to answer the allegations filed against him.

The 14-year-old girl, a Grade 7 student of a public school, alleged that last June 12, 2019, she was sexually abused by accused and his companion, who will be prosecuted once procedural requirements will be complied with.

The FREEMAN is withholding the names of the parties due to the nature of the case.

The victim said that while she was online, she saw her friend live in social media. She asked her friend where she was and if she could come and fetch her, which her friend did.

They went to Cogon-Pardon where they allegedly met the accused and his companion.

She was allegedly forced to drink alcoholic drinks mixed with some drugs.

After that the accused and his companion allegedly took advantage of her and sexually abused her in a rice field. She said she pleaded with them to stop but they allegedly ignored her and continued what they were doing.

She said she could no longer resist because she was too drunk.

"I wanted to push him away from me but I don't have the strength to do it for I am drunk. I have no other choice but to cry," she said.

The victim and her mother reported the incident to the barangay. With the help of the barangay tanods, the accused was placed under arrest, while his companion was able to escape.

Cruz recommended no bail against the accused for his temporary liberty. He is now detained at the Cebu City Jail. — BRP (FREEMAN)
