CEBU, Philippines - Four people including a minor were arrested for shabu in separate anti-illegal drug operations in Cebu City on Thursday.

Around 9 a.m., operatives arrested Simplicio Garcia alias “Ekong” in a buy-bust operation along L. Flores St. in Barangay Pasil.

The suspect was placed under arrest as soon as he handed over a pack of shabu to PO1 Harold Flores who posed as the buyer.

The operation was carried out by a team from San Nicolas Police Station led by station chief, Chief Insp. Keith Allen Andaya, and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-7.

Flores conducted a body search on Garcia and was able to recover from the suspect a medium-sized plastic containing 17 small sachets of suspected shabu.

In Barangay Capitol Site around 1 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was also arrested with two sachets of suspected shabu and a knife.

Prior to this, Fuente Police Station received a call from someone about an armed person near a bakeshop along J. Llorente St.

A team of policemen was dispatched to the area and arrested the boy with a knife tucked on his waist.

Police frisked the boy’s body and found two sachets of the illegal drugs.

The evidence was taken to the PNP Crime Laboratory-7 for analysis while the teenager was detained.

Meanwhile, around 4 p.m., Talamban police arrested alleged drug pusher Bartolome “Bebot” Miñoza and Manilyn Borbon, 29, in a buy-bust operation at Sitio Upper Baugo in Barangay Budlaan.

Police earlier received information that a certain Bebot, who later turned out to be Miñoza, was selling shabu.

A team of policemen were dispatched to the area and arrested the suspect after the drug transaction was consummated.

Borbon, who was reportedly buying shabu from Miñoza, was also arrested.

During body frisk, police further recovered from Miñoza a cal. 38 revolver and four sachets of suspected shabu.

Talisay City

In another buy-bust operation in Barangay Tanke, Talisay City, police arrested a woman and her 17-year-old live partner Thursday afternoon.

Policemen failed to arrest though the subject of the operation and known drug personality Alma Almacin, 48, mother of one of the arrested suspects.

Talisay City Police Station chief Superintendent Aileen Recla said that Almacin was able to elude arrest during the operation.

But police were able to arrest her daughter Abundia Almacin, 22, and her 17-year-old live-in partner.

“Kanang pamilyaha kay ilado na sila nga manuwa-ay og illegal drugs diha dapita,” Recla said.

Police recovered four packs of suspected shabu worth P1,000 from the possession of the two arrested.

Both are now detained at the station and will face charges.— Mae Clydyl L. Avila and Iris Mariani B. Algabre (FREEMAN)
