CEBU, Philippines - While it had its last regular session for this year last week, the Cebu Provincial Board will convene again for a special session on Monday to discuss, among others, an agreement between the province and the Cebu Property Ventures Development Corporation and Filinvest Land Inc.
Board member Grecilda “Gigi” Sanchez hinted that the agreement has something to do with the dispute between CPDVC and FLI over a perimeter fence located along W. Geonzon Street inside the Cebu I.T. Park in Barangay Apas.
She said the agreement would finally resolve the issue, but she refused to give further details as they have to discuss it during the session.
The board will discuss the proposed resolution granting Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III, on behalf of the provincial government, authority to enter into a memorandum of agreement with the CPDVDC and the FLI.
The CPVDC and AsiaTown IT Park Association Inc. had filed a civil case for injunction before the court to stop FLI and company from demolishing the fence which separates their property from FLI Cebu Cyberzone Project.
Cebu City government also declared the perimeter fence a “public nuisance,” a move which the CPVDC and AITPAI said has deprived them of due process and opportunity to defend.
CPVDC and AITPAI earlier said the fence cannot be declared as a “public nuisance” and that they have clear legal rights to protect their property.
Other agenda set to be discussed on Monday are the proposed resolutions authorizing the governor to request funding assistance in the amount of P20 million from the Office of the President through the Department of Budget and Management for hospital, burial, food, educational, “and other welfare assistance and social services” intended for the indigents.
Apart from this, an authorization will also be made for the governor to undertake negotiations and enter into agreement with “competent financial institutions” for the province’s plan to acquire brand new heavy equipment and vehicles amounting to P200 million.
The equipment and vehicles will be utilized for the construction and maintenance of provincial and barangay roads. — (FREEMAN)
