Route for solemn procession

CEBU, Philippines - Thousands of devotees are expected to flock the Basilica del Sto. Niño on January 18 to join in on the solemn procession that precedes the grand celebration of the Sinulog festival on Sunday.

The procession will start from the Basilica del Sto. Niño, (along Osmeña Blvd.), heading to D. Jakosalem St., then to Magallanes St., to Borromeo St., Sanciangko St., Panganiban St., N. Bacalso Ave., V. Rama Ave., B. Rodriguez St., Osmeña Blvd., and back to Basilica to the del Sto. Niño.

Those who have vehicles may avail of the free parking space at the South Road Properties near the St. Pedro Calungsod Templete and Public Utility Jeepneys (PUJ) can accommodate passengers, with minimum fare, going to and from Maritima Building across City Hall.

Meanwhile, a traffic rerouting will be implemented on the procession day starting at 10 a.m until the end of the activity.

Passenger jeeps with Route Nos. 08G, 08F, 09A, 09B, 09G, 09H, 10G, 10K, and 11A together with passenger jeeps from Alumnos while traversing along C. Padilla St., shall turn right to Panganiban St., Tupas St., T. Abella St., C. Padilla St., then to their usual route, then back to their point of origin.

Those with Route No. 09C, 09F, 10C, 10D, 10F, 10O, and 11D while passing along N. Bacalso St., shall turn right to Tres de Abril St., Carlock St., C. Padilla St., R. Padilla St., N. Bacalso Ave., to their usual route, then to their point of origin.

PUJs from Banawa and Guadalupe, passing V. Rama Ave., and Duterte St, shall follow M. Velez St., Don Gil Garcia St., Don Jose Avila St., Osmeña Blvd., J. Llorente St., Don Mariano Cui St., to their usual route, then to their point of origin while Route No. 06A shall turn right to Happy Valley, Duterte/Salvador St., Katipunan St., N. Bacalso Ave., SIT, Tres de Abril St., Salvador St., then to their point of origin. 

Passenger jeeps from Banawa, Capitol, Guadalupe, Oppra passing along Osmeña Blvd., shall follow N. Escario St., to Juana Osmeña St., Gen. Maxilom Ave., F. Ramos St., Junquera St., P. del Rosario St., D. Jakosalem St., Gen. Maxilom Ave., Juana Osmeña St., Jose Avila St., Osmeña Blvd., to their usual route, then to their point of origin.

PUJs from Lahug, Apas and Plaza Housing shall follow to Gorordo Ave., Gen. Maxilom Ave., F. Ramos St., to Junquera St., Colon St., D. Jakosalem St., Echavez Extn., F. Ramos St., Gen. Maxilom Ave., then back to their point of origin.

Talamban and Pit-os jeepneys with Route No. 13B and 62C passing along Colon St. shall turn left to D. Jakosalem, then back to their point of origin while PUJs with Route No. 13C passing along Sikatuna St., follow to Mabini St., Colon St., D. Jakosalem St., to their usual route, then back to their point of origin. Also, PUJs with Route No. 62B passing along V. Gullas St. shall turn right to D. Jakosalem St., to their usual route, then back to their point of origin.

Further, passenger jeep coming from Mandaue and Mabolo including 03B passing M.J. Cuenco Ave., left turn to V. Sotto St., to S. Osmeña Ave., Gen. Maxilom Extn., M.J. Cuenco Ave., to their usual route, then to their point of origin.

Jeepneys from Urgello and USC Girls High (Private) may transport passengers from port area and North Bus Terminal passing Serging Osmeña Blvd., right turn to Palma St., M.J. Cuenco Ave., V. Sotto St., to port area and vice versa.

Passenger jeeps from Labangon with Route Nos. 12A, 12B, 12C, 12D, 12F and 12M shall follow to Tres de Abril St., right turn to Carlock St., B. Aranas St., Lakandula St., C. Padilla St., Carlock St., Tres de Abril St., N. Bacalso Ave, then to their point of origin.

Buses and mini-buses, PUJ's and V-Hires from the south shall follow N. Bacalso Ave., right turn to Mambaling Trunk Road going to SRP, then to the space provided as Temporary Terminal at SRP.

Public Utility Jeepneys with Route Nos. 41, 42, 43, 44 and 45 shall follow N. Bacalso Ave., take under the Mambaling flyover and make a U-turn, to their usual route, then back to their point of origin.

Passenger jeeps coming from the south going to SM shall follow F. Llamas St., right turn Katipunan St., R. Duterte St., proceed to M. Velez St., N. Escario St., Gorordo Ave., Gen. Maxilom Ave., A. Soriano Ave., then to their destination. In going back they shall follow A. Soriano Ave., right turn to Gen. Maxilom Ave., Gorordo Ave., N. Escario St., M. Velez St., proceed to R. Duterte St., then to their point of origin.

Trucks, Vans, Trailers and other motor vehicles coming from the south going to SM or to North Area shall follow South Road, right turn to Mambaling Trunk Road to SRP, SRP Coastal Road, passing the tunnel, to Serging Osmeña Blvd., then to the North Reclamation Area.

While trucks, Vans, trailers and other motor vehicles coming from the North Reclamation Area going to the South are advised to pass along S. Osmeña Ave., passing to the tunnel, then to SRP, then to their point of destination.

All motor vehicles coming from Tabunok, Talisay, Minglanilla, Naga, San Fernando and Carcar who would go to the North Reclamation Area are advised to pass at SRP Coastal Road.

Private vehicles from the south going to Capitol, Lahug shall follow to N. Bacalso Ave., F. Llamas St., Katipunan St., Duterte St., then to their point of destination while private vehicles from the north going to Capitol/Uptown passing along M.J. Cuenco Ave, may turn right to Juan Luna Ave., Gorordo Ave., M. Gaisano St. or N. Escario St., then to their point of destination. (FREEMAN)
