Cebu grad tops med tech exam

CEBU, Philippines - A graduate from Velez College topped the Medical Technologist Licensure Examination, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced yesterday.

Ray Zanoria-Perez II garnered a score of 92.10 percent to top all examinees.

Perez was an addition to the list of topnotchers from the Velez College this year.

Beverly Anne Balagon topped the June 2013 Nursing Licensure Examination while Blake Warren Ang of Cebu Institute of Medicine (the medical school of Velez College) landed first in the recent Physician Licensure Examination.

A cum laude graduate, Perez is the only son of Hayde and Rey Perez, who are both doctors.

In an interview over TV Patrol Central Visayas, Perez’s parents wanted him to proceed to medicine.

Saying that prayers greatly helped him succeed, Perez plans to practice his profession and at the same time study medicine.

Kim Abegail Aldecoa of the University of Santo Tomas took the second spot with 91.30 percent while Andre Karl Faculin of the University of san Agustin grabbed third place with 90.90 percent.

Also in the top 10 are Shara Laine Vino of Angeles University Foundation, fourth with 90.40 percent; Xavier George Cardos of Notre Dame of Marbel University, fifth with 90.30 percvent; Judea Gonzales of AUF and Mary Abegail Paulan of Liceo de Cagayan University, sixth with 90 percent;  and John Gabriel Abcede of Calayan Educational Foundation Inc., Lee Marvin De Villa of Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas, Inc. and Ariel Aaron Icabales of Far Eastern University (FEU), seventh with 89.80 percent.

Completing the top 10 are Jan Bendric Borbe of UST, eighth with 89.70 percent; Vill Patrick De Leon of University of the Immaculate Conception-Davao and Ma Katrina tagata of Saint Louis University, ninth with 89.60 percent; and Daphne Elizabeth Ruiz of FEU-Nicanor Reyes Foundation, 10th with 89.50 percent.

PRC announced that 2,276 out of 2,716 passed the examination conducted by the Board of Medical Technology in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cebu and Davao last month.

The results were released in three working days from the last day of examination. — /LPM (FREEMAN)
