3 killed in separate shooting incidents

CEBU, Philippines - Three people died in separate shooting incidents in the province over the weekend.

The victims include a woman, an engineer and a motorcycle-for-hire driver. Jose Wilson Quevedo, 34, “habal-habal” driver was found dead in Barangay Obong, Dalaguete town yesterday morning.

Quevedo was seen along the road with his motorcycle beside him.

Investigation shows that Quevedo, a resident of Barangay Jolomaynon, was last seen bringing a passenger to Sitio Pilihan, an interior sitio in Barangay Obong.

SPO1 Veronico Centino of Dalaguete Police Station said a fellow driver discovered the victim’s body at 8:00 a.m. yesterday. The drivers, at first, thought that Quevedo had an accident.

However, they were shocked to see several gunshot wounds in his head and the legs. Centino said they are still conducting investigation to determine the possible motive behind the attack.

The police have already ruled out the robbery angle because the victim’s money, cellphone and other personal belongings are still intact.

In a separate incident, a 44-year-old woman died after she was shot by an unidentified gunman in Barangay Tupas, Pinamungajan town last Friday.

Felicidad Yamyamin died of a gunshot wound in the face. The bullet went through her head.

The victim was on her way home for lunch after washing the clothes of her son at a nearby well.

Leonardo Yamyamin, 65, husband of the victim, heard the gunshot and rushed to the area. He found clothes scattered on the ground and her wife already bathed with her own blood.

The victim was rushed to the Carcar Provincial Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

The Yamyamins were reportedly in conflict with a neighbor over a lot, which the police suspect as the possible motive behind the attack.

A 35-year-old construction engineer was also shot dead in Poblacion, Danao City yesterday.

The victim was identified as Jerick Felisardo, a native of Camarines Sur. His companion, Zeus Dulos, 25, was injured during the incident.

The victims were drinking at a mini bar in the area when a woman joined them in their table.

Another group of men reportedly got jealous of them. On their way home the group of men waited for them outside of the bar and attacked them. — (FREEMAN)
