The third this week, Indian moneylender robbed

CEBU, Philippines - Another Indian moneylender was robbed by two men riding tandem on a motorcycle in Barangay Taloot, Argao town, last Sunday.

Police believe the robbers who victimized Davindak Singh, 37, were the same ones who robbed two Indian moneylenders in Barili town last Friday as the motorcycle used by the robbers in both incidents was a Kawasaki motorcycle with license plate numbers 7TC 02176.

In last Sunday’s incident, Davindak Singh, 37, was alone.

Investigation showed that Singh, a resident of Barangay Tulic, Argao town, was about to collect money from his clients in Sitio Tawog of the said barangay around 4 p.m. when two men on motorcycle arrived.

One of the robbers stopped him and pointed a gun at him.

They took the money he collected amounting to P5,800 and his cellular phone worth P2,000 before escaping.

Investigation further showed that men on a Toyota Corolla with a license plate number ending in 214 served as the robbers’ back-up.

Out of fear Singh only reported the incident that evening, police were not able to find the perpetrators.

Last Friday in Barangay Guibuangan, Barili town, moneylenders Harjinder Singh and Harpeet Singh where driving home in Dumanjug town when a Kawasaki motorcycle, with the same license plate numbers, overtook them.

The robbers declared a hold-up and took their collection worth P15,000.

Meanwhile, a motorcycle-for-hire driver was injured after he was struck in the head by his passenger in Barangay Cadulawan, Minglanilla town, late Sunday night.

Junrey Pelit, 23, was plying his usual route when a man flagged him down near the Minglanilla Sports Complex. The man asked to be taken to Sitio Bayong, Barangay Cadulawan.

Upon reaching the said place, a man driving another motorcycle suddenly showed up and blocked their way.

Pelit stopped but suddenly his passenger struck his head from behind with a hard object.

He fell down together with his motorcycle and lay there stunned as the robbers took his motorcycle then fled.

The victim was taken to the Minglanilla District Hospital for treatment.

Just a day prior to the incident, motorcycle-for-hire driver Vergilio Limpio, Jr., 25, died after he was shot in the head by two passengers in Barangay Quiot, Cebu City.

The robbers then stole his silver necklace, class ring and made off with his motorcycle.
