Drainage causing floods at Sambag I for 2 weeks now

- Marigold Lebumfacil - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - An old drainage was blamed of the flooding on P. Del Rosario extension road in Barangay Sambag I, which has been affecting business establishments at the place for two weeks now.

Barangay Captain Jerry Guardo said the clogging of the old drainage on the right side has been causing the flood water to stay. A leg-deep flood water in the area has already affected small businesses along the P. Del Rosario extension such as the two small carenderias and an auto shop.

Guardo said he was surprised that the flood water did not drain after the drainage on the left side of the road got repaired.

Guardo said he has already brought the problem to the attention of Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama during their meeting with the Department of Engineering and Public Works (DEPW) and the contractor last Thursday.

“Gihatagan mi og priority ni Mayor ( we were given priority by the mayor). He wanted to have a report and on the update. We had the Oplan Inspection yesterday in order to come up with the solution,” Guardo said.

“They will try to find out kung naa bay nakabara (if something has blocked). When we have the ocular inspection, okay man ang flow sa tubig sa bag-ong gi-ayo nga nga drainage system. So, there must be something wrong with the old existing drainage,” he added.

Guardo was promised that the city engineering department and the contractor will work it out next week.  (FREEMAN)
