Shootings kill two in Danao, Sibonga

CEBU, Philippines - A suspected drug pusher and a factory worker were shot dead in Danao City and Sibonga town, respectively.

Ramil Papan, 38, resident of sitio Tabok, Barangay Maslog, Danao City was shot dead shortly before midnight yesterday by two unidentified motorcycle-riding assailants. Papan came from the wake of his dead neighbor and was already heading home when the unidentified gunmen fired at him.

The assailants were on board a black XRM motorcycle without plate number. Papan succumbed to several gunshot wounds in his nape, left arm and at the back.

PO2 Phil Restauro said they believe that the crime has something to the victim’s alleged involvement in the illegal drugs’ trade. The police are also looking at the victim’s alleged involvement in the incidents of theft.

Papan had been charged before for his alleged involvement in the illegal drug activities. Meanwhile, personal grudge is believed to be the motive behind the killing of factory worker Isabelito Saraum Jr. in Barangay Abugon, Sibonga Monday morning.

Saraum, 23, was on his way home when a certain Ricky Rama shot him in the head using a still unknown caliber of firearm.

The victim was rushed to the Carcar District Hospital but was referred to South General Hospital in Naga City then to Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center where he was declared dead on arrival.

The police has already launched a manhunt operation against the suspect. — (FREEMAN)
