Centcom to honor PMA graduates from Cebu

CEBU, Philippines - The Armed Forces of the Philippines Central Command is set to give an honor welcome to the four Cebuano graduates of the Philippine Military Academy this year.

Lt. Col. Christopher Tampus, Centcome spokesman, said the welcome honor will be done during the expected courtesy call of the four members of PMA “Bagwis Class 2012” on the Centcom commander. Tampus, however, said there is no schedule yet on the courtesy call.

He said that the AFP Central Command is proud of the achievements of the four Cebuanos especially Jose Mari Cabrera, who finished 2nd of his class.

“They are the pride of the AFP,” Tampus said.

Tampus congratulated the parents of Cabrera for their all out support to their son.

He also reminded the junior officers to always remain professional and to have honor, integrity, and courage since along the way there will be temptations and sacrifices.

Meanwhile, two high ranking officials of the Philippine Air Force visited Cebu City yesterday to pay their classmate, Police Regional Office-7 director Marcelo Garbo, a courtesy call.

Brig. Gen. Edwin Remotique, deputy commander of the 2nd Air Division based at the Benito Ebuen Air Base in Lapu-Lapu City, and Brig. Gen. Raul Dimatatac, commander of the 560th Air Base Wing, visited their classmate in the PMA “Dimalupig Class 1981” to establish good relations with the police.

The two officials, like the previous military officials who visited Cebu City, also denied speculations that their presence has something to do with the alleged destabilization plot against the Aquino administration.

The officials denied reports of ongoing recruitment in the military ranks. According to them, there was no truth to the report of destabilization. They said the officers and men of the AFP remain loyal to the chain of command and the Constitution.—(FREEMAN)
