Gwen gives P2.4M in aid to Santa Fe town

CEBU, Philippines - Capitol officials led by Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia personally handed over P2.4 million in financial assistance to barangays in Santa Fe town in Bantayan Island yesterday.

Garcia was joined by Vice Governor Agnes Magpale, Provincial Board Members Sun Shimura, Joven Mondigo Jr. and Jose Ribomapil Holganza Jr. in the distribution of financial assistance to nine barangays.

Fourth District Rep. Benhur Salimbangon also joined Capitol officials who are in Bantayan Island for a two-day visit.

Each barangay received P100,000 for renovation of day-care centers and purchase of equipment.

The barangays are Hagdan, Langub, Okoy, Pooc, Hilantagaan, Kinatarcan, Marikaban, Balidbid and Talisay. Barangay Poblacion already got the assistance earlier.

Another P100,000 was given to each of the nine barangays for the construction, expansion, completion and rehabilitation of their respective health centers.

Barangays Balidbid, Hagdan, Marikaban and Talisay also received P50,000 each for socio-cultural activities.

The Association of Barangay Councils also received P300,000 for the renovation of its ABC Hall.

Garcia also gave P100,000 to the ABC for the procurement of ten television sets to be distributed to the ten barangays.

Garcia, with other Capitol officials and department heads, also conducted consultations with Santa Fe town and barangay officials upon the request of Mayor Jennifer Ilustrisimo.

Together with Salimbangon, Garcia will be in the Municipality of Bantayan today to distribute goods in islet barangays. (FREEMAN)
