CEBU, Philippines – Senior citizens in Cebu City will have all the reasons to be happy this Christmas because the city government has organized a grand Christmas Party for all members of the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs.
The celebration dubbed as "Pasko sa Sugbo alang kang Lolo ug Lola" will be held at the Fuente Osmeña circle.
The city government has allocated almost half million pesos for the activity to defray for the food and raffle prizes. Guillermo Casinillo, OSCA head, assured that the activity will be filled with activities which will serve as venue to showcase the talents and wisdom. This is the city's way of telling the elderly that despite their age they are important to the community and have the right to become happy.
The city officials believe that this activity will foster unity and cooperation among senior citizens. Mayor Michael Rama has already approved the activity.
OSCA officials are expecting at least 2,500 out of the more than 30,000 senior citizens in Cebu City to participate.
It will be a feast with sumptuous dinner and songs and dance. Aside from this, there will be giveaways to those who will win the raffle draw. To be given away are sacks of rice, appliances and towels among others. (FREEMAN)
