Hospital stresses importance of uninterrupted sleep of babies

CEBU, Philippines - The Perpetual Succour Hospital’s Out Patient Department successfully carried out a lecture and demonstration on how to secure the health and continuous growth of babies by giving them enough time to sleep.

Last July 22, the hospital conducted a short talk on the Importance of Uninterrupted Sleep and demonstration of Pampers diaper absorbency. The said event was spearheaded by Ms. Bernalyn Gulane, area coordinator and Ms. Marbeth Ugay, Pampers product specialist, both from Berco, a marketing consultancy company that is currently working with Procter and Gamble Philippines.

In a press release, Perpetual Succour Hospital said the objectives of the program are to support the parents and enhance mother’s natal experience by giving them information with regards to the baby’s development and useful products and services.

Uninterrupted sleep is one thing that parents need to ensure for the rapid growth of their baby. It will keep babies growing actively and learning eagerly, specially the newborn babies.

Newborn babies must acquire 16-20 hours/day of sleep due to the rapid development of their brains. Growth hormones are released as the baby sleeps these hormones are the one responsible for the infant’s growth.

The fastest development of the baby takes place on his first month and is not anymore repeated in the succeeding months. It is said that if the baby has inadequate sleep, he will be weary and lost his appetite that might result to sickness.

Parents specially the mothers are encouraged to provide total care for their babies since medication nowadays are getting expensive. Though it is normal for babies to get sick, it is still necessary for the parents to be prepared to keep their babies healthy and vigorous all the time.    (FREEMAN NEWS)
