CEBU, Philippines - A six-year-old girl was shot and killed by an unidentified assailant outside their hut in sitio Bulaw, barangay Sudlon II, Cebu City past 11 a.m. the other day.
Based on the autopsy result, Mary Joy Chan Responde was shot at close range.
PO2 Michael Codaste of the Cebu City Police Office-Homicide Section said the victim, who was an epileptic, was watching television outside their hut situated in the middle of their eggplant farm when she was shot.
Codaste said that the victim’s paralyzed mother was inside the hut when she heard a single gunshot.
The victim’s father, Julian Responde, 57, said he was walking towards their hut together with his niece, Chary Responde, 21, when they heard the gunshot. He said they ran and discovered the bloodied victim.
They rushed the victim to the Cebu City Medical Center but she already died from gunshot wound to her stomach.
Codaste said they do not have any clue as to the identity of the assailant and the motive for the incident. — Niña G. Sumacot/LPM (FREEMAN NEWS)
