Bones in Badian believed those of man who killed self

CEBU, Philippines - A human skeleton, believed to be that of a man who earlier committed suicide, was found at the secluded area of barangay Dagatan in the town of Badian last Thursday morning.

Relatives positively identified the human skull and major bones as those of Ireneo Beriarmente Bebelone, 56, a farmer. A relative, Pedro Bebelone, 38, found the human skeleton that prompted him to report such to the Badian Police Station.

Responding policemen, PO3 Jeremias Elardo and PO1 Fortunato Porgatorio found the human skull and major bones scattered on the scene together with some other items that reportedly belong personally to the victim.

The police took the skeleton to the St. Augustine Chapel at 1 p.m. during the follow-up investigation conducted and it was where relatives, aside from Pedro, identified the skeleton as that of Bebelone.

The team also found a plastic bottle of Malathione, a brand of pesticide, near the skeleton.

According to relatives, the victim had long been separated from his wife and even sold his house to a neighbor last May before he left for Cebu City for unknown reasons.

His relatives believe that the victim, who reportedly had no enemies in their place, decided to return home in Dagatan where he committed suicide out of severe depression. — Niña G. Sumacot/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
