Crips beat to death member of rival Bloods

CEBU, Philippines – Two alleged members of the Crips gang were arrested while their three cohorts are still at large after mauling to death a 23-year-old drunken man reportedly of rival gang Bloods dawn yesterday in sitio Bayong, barangay Tisa, this city.

Paul John Alegrado, 18 years old, and another 16-year-old boy will be facing charges for the death of Luisito Villa of sitio San Pedro, F. Llamas Street, Tisa.

SPO1 Jay Yballe of the Cebu City Police Office-Homicide Section said that the minor already admitted being a member of Crips while Alegrado strongly denied the accusation.

Alegrado explained that they were playing computer games at an Internet café in the area at around 1 a.m. when the victim, allegedly drunk, appeared and suddenly pointed fingers for no apparent reason at one of his two girl companions who were also playing then.

In an interview with reporters, Alegrado said that he did not mind it at first since the victim went away to eat. But when Villa came back and pointed fingers again at his girlfriend, this prompted him to ask the guy what his problem was.

When the victim ignored him, he and his other four male companions attacked Villa and only let go of him when he began throwing up blood.

Barangay tanods, after being informed by a concerned citizen, took the victim to the Cebu City Medical Center but he expired there at around 4 a.m. The suspects were arrested at around 1 p.m. in their friend’s house.

Yballe said that they are still contemplating whether it would be most appropriate to file homicide or murder charges against the arrested suspects. A certain “Ikong”, 18, and two other minors are among those on the loose. — Niña G. Sumacot/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
